About me

Sophia Hase was born in Stuttgart to a family of musicians and began an intense artistic career at an early age. She first began her studies under the direction of the teacher Paul Buck in her hometown and then furthered her musical training with Rosa Sabater at Hochschule [Institute of Higher Education] in Freiburg. After Rosa’s death, she continued her training with Elza Kolodin. She then went on to continue her piano studies in Karlsruhe under the direction of Fany Solter y Dinorah Varsi. Over the years, she has devoted herself fully to an important chamber music career, developing her own musical conscience, from which she has established a very personal style. Her high artistic level has been recognised internationally at numerous European competitions. She has performed at festivals such as Schlosskonzerte Ludwigsburg, Osterfestspiele Salzburg (presented by Herbert von Karajan), Prague Spring, Peralada Castle, Piano Extravaganza, Sofia (Bulgaria), Cascavel (Brazil), Hambacher Musikfest, Villa Música, Florilegio Salamanca, IKOF Colorado, and has performed her concerts on stages such as the National Theatre of Brasilia, Essen Opera, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Schlosskonzerte Insel Mainau, Sinagoga del Tránsito [El Tránsito Synagogue] (Toledo), Teatro la Cartuja [La Cartuja Theater] Sevilla, Audimax University of Tübingen, Temple Mt. Sinai (Texas), Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Steinway Hall New York. She has long been drawn to the repertoire of music that was once unjustly treated, to the music that deserves to be heard for its quality and richness but which, for various reasons, has unfortunately been forgotten. This has led her to devote herself to the research, performance and promotion of the magnificent treasure that is the music forbidden by the III Reich. A treasure that will never achieve its rightful place, as time and ignorance are relentless when it comes to wiping out its traces. She is equally passionate about the repertoire of women's musical creation, which, although magnificent and unique, has traditionally been stigmatised and undervalued for centuries. One of her biggest dreams is to bring both repertoires to concert halls and to the academic world. Sophia Hase has always combined performance with teaching. She was a teacher for five years at Hochschule [Institute of Higher Education] in Trossingen, and since 1998 has been working as a teacher in Salamanca, in a piano chair at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Castile and León, where she also teaches a Master's programme in both piano and chamber music performance. In addition to her teaching work, she also runs continuing education courses for teachers, masterclasses, lectures for Spanish universities, and collaborations with Jeunesses Musicales and Jonde. She is an enthusiast committed to awakening new musical consciences. Through her immense piano repertoire, she focuses her work with students on the pursuit of their full development and personal growth, following a common theme in their training that guides their learning and paves the way for their future independence.
